View-Based Explicit Knowledge
نویسنده
چکیده
In the information based deenition of knowledge, an agent is said to know at a state s if is true in all states that look the same as s to that agent. However, in systems where an agent's view of the system is partial, even if a state s 0 may be logically indistinguishable from a state s, s 0 may not be visible from s. For instance, in a distributed system, all global states in which the agent's local state does not change look the same to that agent, but this set of global states may not be accessible because the agent may not even be aware of the existence of many agents in the network. We propose a logic of explicit knowledge built on agents' views and show it to be decidable. 1 A distinction 1.1 Basic logic of knowledge During the last decade, there has been extensive research into the notion of ascribing knowledge to reasoning agents, particularly in the contexts of distributed systems, artiicial intelligence and mathematical economics. The book FHMV95] provides an excellent summary of dominant themes in this line of research. Following Hintikka's logical treatment ((Hi62]), knowledge is studied as a modality in (typically) a propositional modal logic, with the semantics of formulas given in Kripke frames where the accessibility relation is an equivalence. Formally, we have a countable set of propositions P = fp 0 ; p 1 1 This paper is a revised and expanded version of R96b], prepared in honour of Rohit Parikh, on his 60th birthday.

Conceptual Model of Knowledge Management from the Perspective of Human Resources in Educational-Research Institutions
This paper focuses on designing a conceptual model of knowledge management from the point of view of human resources employed in educational-research institutes. The research method was descriptive-survey study and the statistical population of this study consisted of 56 experts and managers of an educational research institute. They were asked by simple random sampling method through a researc...
متن کاملEvaluating the Effectiveness of Explicit and Implicit Form-Focused Instruction on Explicit and Implicit Knowledge of EFL Learners
Although explicit and implicit knowledge of language learners are essential to theoretical and pedagogical debates in second language acquisition (SLA), little research has addressed the effects of instructional interventions on the two knowledge types (R. Ellis, 2005).This study examined the relative effectiveness of explicit and implicit types of form-focused instruction (FFI) on the acquisit...
متن کاملNecessary but Not Sufficient…; Comment on “Knowledge Mobilization in Healthcare Organizations: A View From the Resource-Based View of the Firm”
The challenge of mobilizing knowledge to improve patient care, population health and ensure effective use of resources is an enduring one in healthcare systems across the world. This commentary reflects on an earlier paper by Ferlie and colleagues that proposes the resource-based view (RBV) of the firm as a useful theoretical lens through which to study knowledge mobilization in healthcare. Spe...

This study tested the impact of implicit and explicit knowledge of grammar on learners’ use of oral communication strategies (OCSs) and the interface of OCSs and oral fluency. The study was performed on 24 male and 36 female Iranian university students of English Translation studying at Payame Nour Universities of Lar, Khonj, and Evaz chosen based on availability and ease of access. متن کاملThe Relationship between EFL Learners’ Explicit Knowledge of Source Language and Their Translation Ability
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between students‘ explicit knowledge in grammar and their translation ability. The importance of grammatical knowledge and its effectiveness in translation quality motivated the researcher to run this study and consider grammatical knowledge in Per- sian as the source language of Iranian students. It is clear that grammar is an area ...
متن کاملKnowledge Mobilization in Healthcare Organizations: A View from the Resource-Based View of the Firm
This short literature review argues that the Resource-Based View (RBV) school of strategic management has recently become of increased interest to scholars of healthcare organizations. RBV links well to the broader interest in more effective Knowledge Mobilization (KM) in healthcare. The paper outlines and discusses key concepts, texts and authors from the RBV tradition and gives recent example...
